We found this coffee table at the local Goodwill and knew it had potential.
Sanding. Sanding. Sanding.( 3 hours later)
...and more SANDING! The beautiful wood underneath was worth the effort.
I decided to build a new frame with new legs, but we wanted to keep the old frame and legs for a future project.
After the sanding was complete, I prepped the wood with a pre-stain conditioner.
Minwax Pre-Stain Conditioner. Apply one coat
and let it dry 15-30 minutes before staining.
Rust-oleum Stain. This did the trick with one coat.
I let it dry overnight before attempting the apply polyurethane.
This stain rocks!

Legs - picked up these new legs at Lowe's for about $10 a piece.
Railing - Left over wood trimmed to 4'' width. Cut from 2 - 6x1x8 select pine boards.
(Kreg Jig pocket holes used to hold everything together)
I sprayed legs and trim with a primer to give it a nice cover and finish.
Looking back, I would have gone with a better brand like Valspar or Rust-oleum, but this basic primer did the trick, just had to watch for splattering.

Once the primer was dry, I took the top for a test drive. It looks pretty good, but we're not finished quite yet. I wanted the base to have an Ivory white color, and just so happens had two cans of Ivory White spray paint bought BOGO from Wal-Mart.
The Ivory White tones down the brightness and makes matching other furniture pieces a lot easier. As you can see, our dog, Raven, loves the new addition. It wasn't in place more than 5 minutes before she started hanging out underneath.
Hey.
Thanks for checking us out. We will be adding more projects very soon and hope you enjoy them all!
